Matsy II

Work has begun on Matsy Palmer: Mars Needs Women. I prefer to not call it a sequel as it is more of a second story in a continuing saga that will ultimately span about 25 features. That's a lot of animation.

Special edition version of Matsy Palmer: Angels of T.W.A.T. are now available on Amazon. Fo NTSC go here:

For PAL format, go here:

Matsy is also available for viewing online at numerous VOD sites. Just do a Google for it and pick your favorite site.

A deal is agreed

After many e-mails I have secured an agent deal to represent me and Matsy Palmer to potential broadcast programmers. This could turn into a very lucrative business arrangement. The contract is for 3 years and will cover Matsy and all future productions. I am really excited and so are my new agents. They feel Matsy is a very unique product and will be an excellent fit with many of the programmers they deal with. Now all I have to do is finish it. LOL

back to work ...

Well, after nearly a month I am finally back to work on Matsy. Didn't expect to be away from it quite that long but when someone is paying you to do work, you do it. LOL With Matsy, it's like starting from scratch on the editting. I've discovered 90% of all my lipsync work has to be redone so I am starting at the very beginning of the movie and doing a full re-edit of the whole thing updating the lipsync as I go. It will take time but I think it is worth the effort.

almost there

less than half a page of animation to complete. I figure to have the primary animation completed within the next day. From there I move to lip sync animation and editing. Things should start moving faster now.

Holy crap ...

Only about four pages left but four pages of the most complex segments I have yet to have attempted. You would think a space battle would be easy ... just a bunch of space ships flying around ... NOT! Render times vary between 5 hours to 35 hours depending on the number of ships and complexity of the moves. Do you kn0w just how difficult it is to destroy a ship in space?

A dream

This has nothing to do with Matsy Palmer or any of my oher projects, but I had an "end-of-times" dream that I had to write about somewhere and this is my only online blog. So here it is:

In the dream there is an attempt on the life of President Obama. The attempt is foiled but Michelle and both daughters are killed. When it is discovered who is(was) responsible for the attack, wheels are put in motion that escalates into a limited nuclear war that triggers numerous border wars that have been escalating over time. After all the smoke has cleared there is a new look to world order. Most of Iran is gone. India has extended it's borders to include Pakistan, most of Afganistan, a major part of Iraq and some of what is left of Iran. A new county in the Indonesian area is create called Swob (Swobe?) Land. In my dream I could see the new map of the world as if it was a food market and there was no food for sale. Famine was rampant and everywhere.

Well, that's it. I've been successful in a few prophecies ... ask some of my friends about the real estate and financial collapse here in the US. If they had listened to me, they would have sold their homes three years ago and banked a whole lot of money instead of ending up in up-side-down morgages. Oh well ... we shall see what happens this time.

getting there

I have eight pages of script left to animate before all of the primary animation is completed. After that I go back and finish all the lip sync work with all the voice files I have now. I am hopeful that a rough screener will be finished by the end of May. I have also submitted a pitch for the story to Aniboom to see if they would be interested in funding part of the production for serialization on their website. So things are coming together and before too long you may be able to watch Matsy Plamer on your very own TV. Stay tuned ...

not an april fool ...

All of the voice work is coming in on time and sounds good. 85% of the animation is complete and I'm hopoing for a rough cut by the end of the month. At that time I will cut test DVDs for all of the people who have provided voices and send them out for them to review and offer comment. If all that goes well, I will lock down the voice tracks and work on completing a final cut. Hopefully I will have a screener by the middle to end of May.

More News

A distribution company, S & S Entertainment, has expressed an interest in the Matsy Palmer project. I am now working hard on completing a screener for them to review in hopes of establishing a contract for distribution of this and possibly other future projects. I am now currenly edging up on 60+ minutes of animation but have been held back by delays in getting the rest of my voice work. Most of the animation work from here on in is highly complex and will require a great deal of setup and rendering time. For example, a 30 frame segment I am rendering right now will take 3+ hours to complete. Several animation I have rendered over the last few days habe taken upwards of 12 hours to complete. Their length? 5 seconds (150 frames).

Update

Well, a pitch package has been sent to Adult Swim at the Cartoon Network. So we shall see. I may be to high brow for them seeing the kind of crap they usually play. I can only hope they can see past the end of their nose and realize this could be a great thing at an even greater price. If I can get some funding behind this project I'd love to kick it up to HD quality and pay for professional voice actors to do the characters. Although I think I'd try to keep the voice I have for Matsy just because of my friendship with the woman who provided the voice. We shall see. This is all speculative. But I am also creeping up on almost 50 minutes of video. Production has slowed a bit as of late because the setups are getting so complex. Many scenes now have anywhere for 5 to 10 characters in them and many of them have speaking roles.

Either way, I will release the feature film reguardless of what happens with Adult Swim.

Room to breath ...

I finally got my 1/2 terabyte drive installed. Now I have 910gigs of storage space for working on my video projects. That gives me a little room to breath. Matsy was growing so quickly in size I was almost afraid I'd run out of drive space before I got the new drive installed. Now all I need is voices for the rest of my characters and it's smooth sailing all the wat to the end of production.
