Updates

The comic book is finished and is available here:

It is 30 pages long and in full color. Price is $7.95 and all proceeds go towards the Matsy Palmer production.

Also back to work on Matsy and have finished another 5 minutes of video. So right now I'm hovering around 40 minutes completed. Currently work is being done a very complex sequence that takes place in Moscow. Render times are horrendous but the complete parts look soooooo good. :-)

A Short detour

Had to take a short break from working on Matsy while I install another harddrive to handle the volume of video files. It's amazing how fast you can use up half a terabyte of storage creating video. LOL While taking the break I used the DoGA L3 software to created a 30 page comic book called: Gayle Force. It's sort of anime style superhero story and hopefully the start of something bigger. The comic book will be available for purchase later this month so stay tuned.

Creeping up on 30 minutes

Yes, we have almost completed 30 minutes of the animation for Matsy Palmer. 1/3 of an animated feature film in less than two months. Voice is coming together and before to long we will be submitting samples to Adult Swim for consideration. Personally I am very happy with what is being produced so far and hope to be posting more teasers in the near future.

Software I'm using

For the main animation work for this feature film, I am using a software program called DoGA. For anyone who would like to play with this program it can be found here:

http://www.excite-webtl.jp/world/english/web/?wb_url=http://doga.jp/2008/programs/dogal/index.html&wb_lp=JAEN&wb_dis=2

Just follow the link for the downloads. I recommend getting DoGA L2 first and then when you are comfortable with it, advance to the L3 software. I have also written a book about using DoGA that can be found here:

This is an excellent resource for kids who want to explore 3D animation but don't have very deep pockets.

Script for sale

I have copies of the original script for Matsy Palmer available for sale here:

http://www.amazon.com/Matsy-Palmer-Angels-T-W-T/dp/1440422974/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1222547800&sr=1-7

All profits from the sale of copies of the script help to finance the production.

Right now I have about 8 minutes of animation completed and am working on getting dialog recorded for those 8 minutes.

Teaser done and work progresses

The teaser is done and work has now started in ernest on the feature with about 5 minutes of animation knocked out in the last week. Voice work is starting to come together with one female talent providing the voice of Matsy Palmer and three others providing voices for the men. Things are moving well and if all maintains this animated feature film could be finished in less than 6 months and all done by one person! Let's see Hollywood do that!

I have a few friends who will be providing voices for the characters. Running time will be around 90 minutes. The film is an action adventure, sexy scifi movie called: Matsy Palmer. Stay tuned for more information.

Just getting started

Well, this isn't my forst online BLOG but it is my first here. And my first soully about 3D animation. I do it cheap, I help other people do it cheap, and I do my best to make people understand that Hollywood has it ALL WRONG! You don't need to spend the gross national budget to make a 3D CG movie. You just need to use your head and spend equal amounts of time looking for short cuts as you do working on your project of choice. I'm at the point now where I'm going to do what many consider impossible. I am going to make my very own 3D animated feature film by myself and for less money than you'd spend on a used car. I try to post info here from time to time about what I am doing. But you can also stop by: www.dad-tv.com for more info and 3D resources.
